Superbowl Snack Stadium

Stadium (note the two kitties lurking in the background)

For the second year in a row, Don created a superbowl stadium made entirely of snack food. This year was a little more evolved than last year's field of store-bought guac surrounded by cheesy poofs. We got the idea from some blog somewhere and scaled it back (these people went ALL out with deli meats, all sorts of sausages, and other items costing tons of $$).

Superbowl Stadium

For the Field:
1 can refried beans mixed with 1 pkg taco seasoning
1 jar of your favorite salsa (about 16 oz)
1/2 - 1 bell pepper (green or red), diced
1-2 cups shredded cheese
4 avocados
1/2 - 1 hot pepper (I used 1/2 jalepeno)
1/2 shallot
juice from 1/2 lime
cilantro (optional)
cumin, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper to taste
sour cream

For the Stands:
graham crackers (for structural purposes)
various snack foods (tostitos, sun chips, check mix, pretzels, bugles, pita chips, etc.)
Pirouettes (for the goal posts)

To make the guacamole, place hot pepper, shallot, lime juice, cilantro, and seasonings in a food processor. Pulse until chopped fine, then add avocados and pulse until desired consistency (I generally like a chunkier guac).

Layer the refried beans, salsa, chopped pepper, cheese, and guac to make the field. When I make a regular seven-layer dip, I also include chopped scallions, chopped tomatoes, and shredded iceberg - up to you. Place sour cream in a ziploc bag, seal, then snip of a tiny corner. Squeeze sour cream through the hole to make yard lines.

Surround the dip with graham crackers and use graham crackers to create sections in the stands. Fill each section with your snack foods of choice. Place pirouettes in the field as goal posts.
